فانظمتنا عادة ما اشعرتنا اننا وحدنا من يعيش تحت خط الفقر ولذا علينا بالتنمية والتي تؤدي بنا الى التنازل عن الكثير من الكرامة والحرية والارادة بينما ما تظهره هذه الاحصائية على النقيد من ذلك فبالفعل نحن نعيش تحت خط الفقر ولكن عدونا ايضا ربع شعبه يعيش تحت خط الفقر..

ورغم ذلك لم يتنازل ولم يركع لما نسميه ببرامج التنمية التي تعني شيئا واحد وهو خضوع النظام لارادة الغرب وخضوع الشعب لارادة النظام…

وتظهر المقالة بان الحروب التي يخوضها الصهاينة ليست مجانية او مدفوعة مسبقا من قبل الولايات المتحدة بل المواطن الاسرائيلي يتحمل جزء منها فحرب لبنان ادت الى اقتطاع 2بليون من ميزانية الدولة …

25% of families below poverty line

According to the annual poverty report released on Wednesday by Director General of the National Insurance Institute (NII) Yigal Ben Shalom, 26.2% of Israelis, comprising over 1.6 million people, were below the poverty line in 2005 - a 1.7% jump from 24.5% in 2004.

The report also found that:

·  769,000 children live below the poverty line, an increase of 55,000 from 2004 - over 35% of the children in Israel.

·  One out of four families in Israel was below the poverty line, for a total of 410,000 families.

·  In families with at least four children, the poverty rate rose to 58.1% from 54.7% in 2004, while 177,000 families in which one parent earned an income were defined as poor.

·  One third of public and private sector employees were below the poverty line.

The report defined "below the poverty line" as an income of less than 1,868 NIS per person per month.

Ben Shalom noted a relative improvement in the number of impoverished senior citizens, however, which he attributed to a rise in pension allowances.

According to the report, stipends for children were cut by 9% in 2005, adding to a general cutback of 50% over the past few years.

In a move likely to undermine efforts to help the poor, the Knesset’s Finance Committee approved an NIS 2 billion cut in the budget of government ministers on Wednesday in order to finance the war in Lebanon.

The coalition managed to win the 10-9 vote after three Labor MKs, who previously objected to the cut, were replaced by other Labor members in favor.

Many MKs lashed out at the government after hearing the details of the poverty report.

Meretz MK Zahava Gal-On declared that "the time has come to appoint a welfare minister in Israel who will be concerned with the well-being of all of those lower classes who have been neglected by the Israeli governments in every generation."

Gal-On called on the government to put a stop to budget cuts so no more Israelis would drop below the poverty line.

Hadash head MK Muhammad Barakei responded to the report by saying that "we are not surprised by the severity of the report. The writing was on the wall throughout the years, and the governments of Israel - including this current one - chose the same economic policy and even exacerbated it."

Barakei added, "It appears that we can expect more severe reports in the coming years, due to the government’s decision to force the poor and the weak to pay the price of the war against Lebanon."
